MC 200 Stop Off Paint
MC200 is a fragrance-free and solvent-free water base stop-off paint for all forms gas carburizing and carbonitriding against carbon depths up to max. 2.0 mm. It provides improved properties in respect of easy application and adherence to work pieces surfaces. The stop off paint is delivered ready for painting. The residues of the paint can be easily removed after heat treatment by simply washing with hot water or alkaline. This is important for mass production for instance in the automotive and gear manufacturing industries.

Unlike other protective coatings, MC200 can be removed after the heat treating process simply by washing the part in an agitated hot water or alkaline solution, so it is especially valuable for stop-off threads and deep holes.
Instructions For Use:
Before applying, stir the contents of the MC200 container well. As received, MC200 is suitable for painting. Prior to applying the paste, the surfaces of the components must be cleaned thoroughly by either a vapor degreaser or a detergent washer, so that they are free of oil and grease.
Soak the brush thoroughly in MC200, then paint the areas to be protected as evenly as possible. If the steel surface can be seen through after coating, a second layer is recommended. Drying time between two coatings should be at least half an hour. Normally, only one coating of MC200 is necessary against carbon pick up to case depths of 2.0 mm max. For deep case depth stop off, we recommend stop off paint MC201.
For dipping or spraying, we recommend dilute the stop off paint by adding 2～5% water. Removal of Residues after Heat Treatment After carburizing and quenching, residues of MC200 can be easily removed by just washing with hot water or alkaline. Storage MC200 should be stored in a dry cool place. Shelf life is approx. 12 months. MC200 is based on water and must therefore be prevented from freezing.
